Political Debates | Rallies | Town Hall Meetings

Political Debates

This is somewhat an adaptation from the United States of America which has a rich history of organising political debates and will be a live coverage by all T.V stations.

The debate will be a combination of the panel approach and the town hall meeting approach. There will be a panel of three questioners and a moderator. The panellists and moderator are journalists/broadcasters who will be fair and who also have a grasp of the issues at stake to be debated and the skill to craft very polite questions that would bring out the best (or worst) in the candidates.

In addition, some selected members of the audience will be allowed time to ask selected questions.

Rallies

The target group for the rallies are, Civil society organizations, Politicians, Political Parties, Individuals, Artisans, Students, Private and Public sector institutions, Marginalized groups, and the Media. Participants are encouraged to bring banners and other visual effects that will attract media cameras. There will also be a list of speakers on topical governance issues.

Town Hall Meeting

The town hall meeting is tagged the '2007 and beyond: Setting the Agenda'

The Town Hall Meeting will generate perspectives on identified national issues from our political office seekers as well as offer an opportunity for contributions from other Nigerians on the different dimensions to these issues. In the end, the Meeting will set out an agenda for Nigeria within the context of these issues. It will also provide an insight into any emerging consensus on the priorities for an incoming administration.

The Town Hall Meeting will be interactive with six lead panelists. There will also be questions, comments and contributions from the floor. There shall be rapporteurs to take note of important points and contributions for inclusion in the Final Statement of the Town Hall Meeting.

The major issues identified for the town hall meeting include, infrastructure, corruption, Niger delta, environment, security. Meeting will also be aired on the national network service of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), African Independent Television (AIT) and Channels Television as well as the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).
